Jemma has that peculiar author ability to dress up observational tragedy with humor that can only be compared to the late terry pratchett. She can write a story that is largely about how quick we are to judge and fall upon trans women, without actually making it feel overwhelming.

Rotten Girl got that distinction of being the kind of book that gets its thesis proven fully if the reader understands it, and doubly proven if the reade doesn't. There aren't many books that test you, the reader, quite as directly. It's not a book, it's a confrontation.

Let's drop some recs. :) Some of my favorite non-speculative transfem books last year and this year are Rotten Girl by @jemma.bsky.social and Just Happy to Be Here by @naokan.bsky.social.

Book Review: Autumnal Conductor by Lhuzie Fénix Brilliant prose and a technical mastery of the English language have earned Fénix’s debut a perfect 10/10.

It is always deeply frustrating to talk to people whose stance on talking to people about the possibility of being queer is rooted almost entirely in etiquette, ignoring that we are culturally, systemically discouraged from considering it.

It'll probably be a good few months before I have the time to really dive into development, but I'm planning an 80s/90s anime inspired mecha TTRPG. I already have a fantastic character artist lined up, but I'm going to be looking for someone who can do retro anime-style mechanical designs.
