Not just a pun, but a tongue twister too. Excellent.

I’ve seen people driving ahead of me erratically and the best response is to slow down and pull back further from them rather than try to overtake.

As a car driver I would be very happy to have my speed limited in this way. I already try to use the built in speed limiter as much as possible, but when limits change it’s a bit clunky. Tech could even reduce limits for dark / wet / icy conditions. The limit is designed to be the maximum.

Tell the youth of today that not only did you have to dial-up to access the internet, even email, but you had to pay per minute as well, on top of phone charges, and they probably won’t believe you.

Why do insurance companies need to know how I usually pay for insurance, monthly or annually? They also ask how I want to pay this time, so isn’t that enough?

Fair enough.

Real ale as well?

Is this for the prequel to Grand Theft Auto for when 1920s cars needed a cranking handle to start?

On a busy train earlier. Suddenly a young girl (maybe 5 or 6) starts singing the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah, with a sweet voice and not long enough or loud enough to disturb anyone. Cc @mirandakeeling.com

Maybe something along the lines of β€œbring your whole self to life” but that isn’t exactly easily understandable as an expression.

The paradox of retirement or reduced working hours is that income reduces and spending will likely increase (I know you don’t quite mean that situation).

Nice, although the idea of a cup of sausages makes me think of how American recipes often measure things in cups. How much is a cup of haddock? 🐟

I know that I could never be an interior designer. If I suggested roughly cutting a tree trunk and attaching it by chains people would just laugh, yet it works in the context of Gloucester Services.

Small car parked and blocking a dropped kerb on the corner of a road.

Small car parked and blocking a dropped kerb on the corner of a road.

Please don’t do this folks. Parking across a dropped kerb makes it difficult to impossible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users. If you see something like this then leave a polite note asking them to please not do it.

It’s lovely. Nice outside area too. Wasn’t so great late at night when everything apart from one small coffee outlet shut down (that was about 10 years ago but probably still the same arrangement).

It's amazing what evidence based policy can do.

The evidence that the 20mph limit is working fantastic from the point of view of saving lives and saving the taxpayer money in Wales is overwhelming.

You can be annoyed about it.

But you can't argue that it isn't doing what it was supposed to do.

The sort of thing you couldn’t make up. If this was in a novel or film or TV show it would probably be dismissed as totally unrealistic.

Also:

The Equality Act mandates UK firms to make β€˜reasonable adjustments’ for those with disabilities. And if you’re in Financial Services you need to consider Consumer Duty and vulnerable customers.

Plus, ethics are increasingly a buying motivation for (esp younger) consumers. Reputation matters

The case for accessibility:

1/ Regulatory: UK public sector orgs must legally provide accessible services. If you provide services in the EU then you must comply with the EAA

2/ Business: c20% of the population have a disability. Why exclude 20% of the market?

3/ Moral: It’s the right thing to do

I don't want to be all gatekeeper-y but the reason we have good artists is because they work at it. And because they're interested in making other people *feel* something.

And I'd like to say it's obvious when people have done that work, but there are enough taken in by slop that it's not. Yet.

Yes, I am not saying the HTML is wrong, just that NHS (and indeed HTML) are not acronyms.

I think worse than that is the pop up that immediately appears on some websites asking you to complete a survey about your experience of the site. Ask me after 10 minutes if absolutely necessary, as I often want to help with constructive criticism, but if you ask straight away I will just close it.
