afraid to tell tvscholar hive I'm thinking of watching The L Word (for the first time)
i know it's illegal to critique The Sopranos but why does Edie Falco get like nothing to do in the early seasons (so far). sometimes she's barely in an episode rip
should I be blueskying more...what are the vibes where is everyone at
the more time goes by since HOW TO DIE ALONE's cancellation the more I think about what a shortsighted decision that was. what a shame.
hoping to watch less shows about crime, murder, and cops in 2025...give me a surrealist slow burn gay yearning auteur dramedy or something 😭 the stakes are too damn high. I'll even settle for an emotional family drama, what happened to those!
(this is after watching every season of it except S3 which I'll wait to catch up on after I've watched Potomac, too many spoilers)
the concept of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip (basically RH All Stars) is so much better than its execution, which ends up being quite boring as a watching experience — except for the bits where they reflect on their experience as housewives, but that could be explored in a different format imo
it starts off really strong but gets more limp as it goes along until its characters are making silly goofy Die Hard references and I'm rolling my eyes lol. but I love the cast!
the way this genre is evergreen: “When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood,” Peacock’s logline teases, “Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.”

a fantastic leading cast (Julianne Nicholson, try not to say mother challenge FAILED) didn't make up for a mystery/conspiracy that was a bit womp womp for me. less colloquial thoughts in my review of Hulu's Paradise for @thewrap.com: www.thewrap.com/paradise-hul...

the gay agenda (pushing Big Boys in my column)
BIG BOYS was dropped unceremoniously on Hulu last month and I could not rest until I wrote about how much I love this queer show with uncanny parallels to my own life: for the first entry of my Appointment Viewing column in 2025 for @thecut.com www.thecut.com/article/revi...
obviously I'm more TV-focused in my work, but I go out of my way to watch as many films as I can during this season for my @dorianawards.bsky.social ballot and I'm so proud of our nominations this year! nextbestpicture.com/the-2024-dor...

TCA EOY Spotlight: "This entry in my monthly 'Appointment Viewing' column for The Cut marks nearly two years covering television for them as a freelance columnist," says @tvscholar.bsky.social, "and for a show that I think is one of the best this year has to offer."
