Monmouth is regular coffee stop for me. So,hoping for some creative inspiration passing the famous Rockfield Studios. Many of the UKs famous bands have written and recorded here. Including Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody!), Oasis, Cold Play and dozens more!

My WIP novel is now in a far better place since attending this course. Leave your MAs and egos at the door, step in and learn how to apply a load of new concepts with like minded writers - I did!

Set up position for practicing a yoga / Pilates pose. I cal it ‘crime scene pose’. Usually gets a reaction from fellow silver yogis when I say it!

An Idea: The discipline of writing. Plenty of stuff out there on research/editing/synopsis/finding agents etc. But debut novelists need a formula on how to avoid quitting and get from 0k to 80k words in 9 months. I’ve got the scars & 4 books happy to share my innovative 0-completion process.

Hay Festival May 24th ‘Event71’ I’m reading from my metafictional WIP historical thriller. Famous metafiction include: The Slaughter House Five and the Handmaids Tale - or think Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag when she does that thing of talking directly to the camera!

Yesterday I listened to an Anthony Horowitz interview on Radio 2. He mentioned metafiction (I’d vaguely heard of it!). It then occurred to me that my WIP historical/present-day thriller is inadvertently metafictional. Who knew eh!

I reach a point where I write the remaining milestone chapters from unrelated parts of the manuscript, then fill in the gaps. Like doing the edges and sky first on a jigsaw puzzle. It works for me!

Judges feedback on my Marlowe & Christie novel shortlisting: In my experience it's very difficult to make anything tech-related in fiction both plausible and engaging but you achieved both. I liked how quickly and how high the stakes rose. Within just a few pages you’ve set up an intriguing mystery.
