Almost placed a Costco stock-up order on Instacart, then saw a tiny message on the checkout page saying “For best member value, shop at Same Day on Costco.” So I filled my cart over there to see the price difference. FORTY FREAKING DOLLARS LESS. Instacart is such a scam! Appalling.

All I’m saying is that Asians don’t “identify as white”—even if they’re being racist. That’s the pernicious part. They can crave the advantages of whiteness even as they identify as not-white and acknowledge the racism against them.

D’Souza is the most common name in the part of India my family is from, thanks to the violence of Portuguese colonialism. And to the terrible Dinesh D’Souza I would offer the counterpoint of Zohran Mamdani.

I don’t know. White adjacency is a dangerous thing among some Asians for sure (esp those who buy into the model minority myth), but Brown is a category too—there can be more than two positions to identify with. (Which doesn’t excuse/diminish the racism, just means we don’t identify as white.)

I’ve stopped ordering Instacart or UberEats if I can help it, because of the note that says “This price was set using an algorithm based on your personal data” below the total. There’s no way this algorithm is ever going to save me money. They’re not reducing the fee if they think I’m poor.

I always thought if I were on that show I’d want him as my designer. Or that I’d only go in the show if I could have him as my designer.

What the quote posted person above is objecting to is the idea that people are “getting away with things.” But for the most part airlines have put procedures in place to mitigate that. The one thing I don’t get is the travel influencers traveling with their dogs in first class—but yeah.

Some New Yorkers I’ve met have opted to have their dogs trained as service animals in order to be able to take them on planes for free—at a cost of $10-15K. But when the airlines ask about service animals, they ask about the dog’s training, as far as I know, not the level of the owner’s disability.

So, people can’t just randomly bring dogs on planes. If you have a documented service animal, they can go on the plane without payment. If you have an emotional support animal or just pet, you have to pay to get them on the plane. And in all cases there are max number of animals on each flight.

She shouldn't have to keep doing this by herself. She is supposedly a member of a political party and every single one of her *colleagues* should be BLASTING the fascist in chief. ALL OF THEM. Where is the solidarity???

This is the thing: if I found out I was part… anything. Say Afghan. I cannot imagine writing as if I were Afghan without tracing my own Afghan heritage and finding my place within Afghan culture first. The idea that he only found out because someone else did the research is… so f*ing white of him.

Appalling racism, obviously, but to accuse Afghanistan of being a failed state when it’s been colonized, assaulted by the USSR, and under siege by the U.S. for the last almost hundred years is pretty rich.

Imagine my sweet friend (understandably) going into a blind panic as she goes about her business because someone didn’t know how his sweatshirt might read in this moment. Or maybe he did know and that was the point. Either way none of us should be living with this terror.

An undocumented friend said she saw a man w/ a black face mask and camo pants, and the letters C and E on his sweatshirt, and she immediately called her teenage daughter in a panic. The man turned around and his sweatshirt said ACE not ICE. She was laughing as she told me but omg this is ridiculous.

Remember when the oil companies were saying if they didn’t get their pipelines or w/e they were going to move their operations elsewhere (as if the oil wasn’t, you know, in a fixed location)? Well guess what it doesn’t make a diff where they are because they are just transferring money to the U.S.

The U.S. is all over Canadian airwaves by default; when Trump tries to influence Canadian elections, he’s doing the same thing, he just doesn’t have to pay for ads.
