11.12.2024 12:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0In a universalist theory it’s said that the french creole language was not created by the enslaved adults but instead by the children of the enslaved who worked on the plantations.
Those children were exposed to a pidgin which was unstructured/unstable etc thus creating the language.
Translating “The” in Saint Lucian 🇱🇨creole : 4 diff ways.
1. -a (tifi-a)
2. -la (chat-la)
3. -lan (fanm-lan)
4. -an (Chyen-an)
The girl,The Cat,The woman,The dog.
There are rules&when you understand them writing the language becomes easier. 🙌🏾🌹

Q,X,C,U
C is always followed by CH
And U is always by OU

“Ha” is just a variation of “ja” which comes from the French word déjà. There’s also another variation which is “za” depending on where you’re from you’d use any one of those variants or all interchangeably.

I find it interesting how some parts of Louisiana (Kréyol/creole) uses different determiners like most Antillean Creoles do.
For example ( la, lan, a , nan, an)
