A short-eared owl flys silently through the fog, just over the tops of marsh grasses. The grasses are yellow and the fog gives an ethereal look to the image

It was a foggy morning, but the sun was starting to peek through.
Out of nowhere a large bird appeared, flew low over the marsh grasses, and was gone.
This Short-eared Owl was hunting the marsh … a perfect match for the silence of the fog!

Like many of you, I never met Dr. Darren Markland, but I felt I knew him through his posts. He was a particularly valuable voice during the height of the pandemic, and reminded us all through his work in the ICU how important it was to take care of ourselves and each other in uncertain times.👇🏼
