Summary:

When a scrapped plot thread from PIDW leaves Luo Binghe and Zhuzhi-Lang incapacitated by a mysterious illness, Shen Qingqiu and Tianlang-Jun must journey together through the Endless Abyss to find the cure. Good thing their loved ones are safe under Mu Qingfang's care...

Wait, hold on. I'm hearing reports that Luo Binghe and Zhuzhi-Lang have escaped Qian Cao Peak? And they're acting kind of weird, almost like they've swapped bodies or something?

Uh oh.

Shen Qingqiu inclined his chin. “After you.”

“Peak Lord Shen is too polite.” Tianlang-Jun’s lips threatened to curl into a smile. He lifted one graceful hand, palm up. The barest hint of deep purple decay was visible between the obsidian shadows of his sleeve. “Let’s go together.”

Ah, what a pleasant image. Shen Qingqiu could tumble into the yawning maw of shrieking terror hand in hand with his father-in-law. Like hell! If Luo Binghe found out, he would mope for a hundred years at the very least. That child drank more vinegar than water. What Shen Qingqiu would have to do in order to soothe Luo Binghe’s bruised feelings—ah, his poor hips would never recover!

Tianlang-Jun’s mirth grew as he witnessed Shen Qingqiu’s obvious hesitation. “I have no improper intentions, I assure you. Our quest will be difficult enough without the threat of separation.” His fingers encircled Shen Qingqiu’s wrist, teal fabric becoming a thin barrier between their skin. “It’s best to mitigate such risks, don’t you agree?”

Shen Qingqiu didn’t bother to shake Tianlang-Jun off. It would have been a futile effort; heavenly demons were the stickiest, most tenacious beings he had ever met. He said flatly, “This better not be a set-up for your arm detaching from your body halfway down.”

Tianlang-Jun could no longer hold back his smile. “Only one way to find out.”

Together, they jumped.

And the abyss, ever-hungry, was more than happy to swallow them.

"You can't go." Luo Binghe clutched Shen Qingqiu's wrists, the weakness of his grip undeniable. "Shizun, you can't."

"I'm the only one who can."

"Not alone," Luo Binghe stressed. "I know Shizun is capable, but it's not a matter of strength. The abyss has ways of entering your mind. Its influence is…" He trailed off, eyes a bit far away. "You absolutely cannot go alone. Without a guide, it's—"

Tianlang-Jun laughed. "Do you hear this, Zhuzhi-Lang? That son of mine worries too much. When one is accompanied by a demon of my status, not even the Endless Abyss would dare to impose its will."
