"Bowman Bay" sits on the North side of Deception Pass state park in Washington State. As I walked up the beach, a white heron stood in the waves before flying away. I loved the green of the water in this area.

This might be an unpopular opinion but what this baby seal is doing is very special to me, personally.

We're socialized to constantly apologize for being too outwardly excited about things, but this world is so full of terror and misery that I'd rather see those bursts of light and passion shine through the cracks wherever you can find them.

Someone's screenshot of a two-post twitter thread, from user blue (@bluewmist):

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).

A design for a dish titled "Sea Birds' Island" by William De Morgan. It is a circular, monochromatic drawing in reddish-brown tones. The design is divided into two main sections:
Top half: Five birds are standing on a shoreline with a stylized sun rising or setting in the background.
Bottom half: A large, stylized fish (possibly a whale) swims in the sea, surrounded by smaller fish. The water is depicted with a swirling pattern of waves.
The design is noted to be a "dish design" and is "pricked for transfer.

The character is standing in a room with a wooden door and two framed pictures, and a large, bat-like shadow is cast on the wall behind it.
