Can't wait until I'm allowed to tell you all about my next novelette that revisits our favorite (and only) space-faring fenox Chesirah (link if you've forgotten) in an entanglement with the fae.

You should absolutely read this book. Just incredibly well-crafted at all sorts of different levels. Enjoy it as a classic fantasy heroic journey, savour the world-building, or dig deeper into the craft and reflect on the viewpoints and characters.
Get me my next fix here, is what Iโ€™m saying!

Asunder by Kerstin Hall is a dark fantasy novel set in a wholly unique world, with two characters literally stuck together. I read it at the start of the year and I think about it constantly. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

+1 to all of these that I've read (A Necessary Chaos in particular is brilliant), and also throwing in there Alex Jeffers' A Mourning Coat, which is seriously one of the most subtle, light touch pieces of fiction (speculative or otherwise) I've read in ages & more people should read it.

Another October almost over. My debut novel is THE DEVOURERS is a genrefluid book, but with strong strains of horror running through it, if you're looking to cram in another read for the season.

a fascinating thing about replies to this post is the many different genres where people are locating this problem. I think it is maybe everywhere! publishers need to invest in developing their authors and stop overworking their editors!

One of the things I enjoyed most about studying Victorian lit in college was how these people would read each other for filth in the most roundabout ways. And "My Sincere Apologies For the Demon" by @adrianwardwrites.bsky.social puts me exactly in that mindset. I LAUGHED so many times here. Read it!
