The story hooks got into me early on and have demanded I be dragged along for the entire ride

Not even 100 pages into AN ACCIDENT OF STARS by @fozmeadows.bsky.social and I’m already sure of my opinion that this book is one of the great modern portal fantasies.

Ummm those comps are EVERYTHING!! I will always shout about the need for more queer epic fantasy.

Can't wait to support this and I encourage all of you to do so as well!

a combination of all of Marty's work!

With Nebula nominations ending in a few days, a reminder that if you enjoyed any of my work last year, I'd be deeply grateful for your nomination. That work includes:

🦊 Audition For the Fox - Novella
✂️With Only A Razor Between - Novelette
✍️4 Stories w/ Weird Horror, Lightspeed, Nightmare

Cheers!

In the 90s I think was too young to really grasp the nuances I think, but I definitely wasn't anti-Neo Sapien

@amtuomala.bsky.social I have just started reading THE MAP AND THE TERRITORY and I believe I shall be a fan of Mnoro. I'm bracing myself though because I've been on a streak of characters I like getting the dagger in stuff I've been reading/watching lol

First two chapters of DEAD HAND RULE have me feeling like I’m front row for the most epic ass opening to a big movie. The King in Red’s presence on the page never disappoints.

Lately, the only way I’ve achieved that is writing by hand and turning all my devices off 😂

Second to last long-list call! What was out in 2023 in queer SFF that you think was amazing?

Again, not asking for every bit of queer SFF that was out this year, what would you personally give an A- (4 stars, 8/10 etc) to?

My starter list in the image and alt text.

I'm not starting up an award ...but I am testing a hypothesis and spotlighting some great queer SFF

I'm not starting an award.

But I am going on a perhaps quixotic months-long exercise in spotlighting great quality early 2020s queer SFF. The details, the thinking behind it, and a bonus cringeworthy pun are here!

I look forward to shouting at y'all about great books over the next few months.

Yea! And it did not flinch in showing some tough stuff. I'm glad it's held up mostly for me. I was worried I might shatter some childhood memories rewatching it lol

Watching Exo-Squad with a modern lenses...yea the Neo-Sapiens had every right to turn on the humans. I knew that as a kid in the 90s but couldn't quite quantify why, but now yea. You create a race purely to enslave them and then have the AUDACTIY to be prejudiced after they demanded their freedom.
