For the past year I've been working on a piece examining the shortcomings of US organ donation. The system does a lot well, but if often fails in perhaps one of the most important ways. And patients are dying because of it.

I wish I had better news about that story. Unfortunately, after talking extensively with NatGeo about it, they passed. I'm still trying to find it a home but not optimistic. This happens sometimes in the freelance world, though it's especially disappointing with this story.
