Overnight, this extremely well-funded tech company run by a billionaire has gone from “There’s no way we can possibly stop our plagiarism machine from convincing children to kill themselves” to “If you type anything we don’t like, we’re calling the cops.”
Either way, they take zero responsibility.
Any of us working to build better worlds need to take this stuff seriously.
Our capacity to care for each other is significantly diminished when we are trapped in darkened rooms as the sick or the care givers (and it is just shit).

Been having a conversation with my husband recently about the concept of "failing to get better" when it's an illness that has no cure. It is not and never has been his fault or failure.

It also took us a long time to realise my husband was disabled. I think we shared the same fears as Kelly, but it was powerful and helpful once we allowed ourselves to use that language.

in an ideal democratic state the citizenry holds the power, deciding who is in government and holding them accountable. The citizenry would not just be the beneficiaries of the state, but partners in how it functions.

This makes no sense until we understand the way that the state as we know it is changing and being changed through:
* the shifting of power;
* the shifting of wealth; and
* ultimately the erasure of the institutions + structures that have held it in place.

The state is constantly changing and being changed. How it works, who is given and who takes power, is constantly shifting and always contested. Deciding to consciously affect this flux is not radical.

No baby formula has entered Gaza for four months because of Israel’s genocidal blockades. There is nothing left to feed babies and their mothers can not produce milk as they themselves are starving. There is no defending what Israel is doing. No justification.
Oh nice work you two :) We don't have kids (in part due to his illness and my unwillingness to be a parent in that context) but we have what we call our 'solar family' (non-nuclear) which includes kids and it is wonderful.
