If mold and fungus grow in the feeder, the fungus can infect the hummingbird's tongue and make it swell up causing the condition known as Hummers Candidiasis. The hummer can't eat, painfully starving it to death. If your feeder is moldy or cloudy you are just a bird killing psycho.

They have been busted on a few occasions illegally poaching in Canada and trying to get it across the border. Some may be farmed but many I am sure are not.

This will be the year of the Monarch in our garden. New plants both to host them and feed them going into an area just for them (and any other pollinators that show up - we don't discriminate).

Scientists reveal "major" new factor in bumblebee decline A study found that bumblebee nests may be getting too hot, and the species are struggling to thermoregulate these temperatures.

"The constraints on the survival of the bumblebee brood indicate that heat is likely a major factor, with heating of the nest above about 35 degrees Celsius being lethal, despite the remarkable capacity of bumblebees to thermoregulate."
