29.04.2025 17:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I need some kind of Master Class on utilizing different herbs with different flavor profiles.
Especially the unusual ones that are hard to find at a grocery store but I can grow in my garden.
Teach me the secrets of chervil and Syrian oregano please.
I spent so much on parking when Ken was in the hospital in Baltimore. They offered valet parking for days I couldn't make the three block walk from the garage π

28.04.2025 05:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes when I get sunburn, I joke to myself "aw yiss, feel that carryover cooking" and then I wonder why I thought that was a funny joke.
Gardening is a silly hobby. I have a watch tan and May hasn't even started yet.
I mean, that's surely an exercise in imagination...
09.04.2025 04:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Aside from all the known horrors of working in the federal government right now, it is next to impossible to get things done because THERE IS NOBODY AROUND TO DO IT. I have been wasting so much more time finding people that can still do certain tasks and I hate it.
17.03.2025 19:15 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The thing about having an electric induction cooktop is that it has an auto shutoff if you leave it going for several hours.
Which means if I'm going to simmer something overnight, I need to turn it off and back on again before bed.
Modern technology means having to reboot your soup stock.

25.02.2025 20:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know in the 90s it was to announce your departure, like "I'm outie" and I think in a movie they made it an Audi reference or something.
What are people doing with it today??
90s slang?
25.02.2025 19:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A British-Egyptian team has made one of the most significant Egyptian archeological finds in recent history: the tomb of pharaoh King Thutmose II, who ruled sometime between 2000 and 1001 BCE. This is the first tomb of a pharaoh unearthed since Tutankhamunβs in 1922.

Saw a thing talking about dad music and the comments blew up saying "that's not dad music, that's Gen X!"
Hate to break it to you my dudes, but my child is a legal adult, we are the dads now.

I agree though, I don't want a lingering nuclear death, let me be vaporized quickly (11 seconds for my elementary school, right by our hypothetical ground zero)
The nostalgic vibe is comforting and unsettling.
I recently discovered that my kid never discussed with his peers how long it would take for the school building to be vaporized if the highest yield Soviet (Russian) nuke hit DC like me and the spouse did growing up π
A teeny sanguini from the Dragon Quest franchise. It's a round white furry creature with black splotches, a silly face, giant triangle ears, and teeny tiny bat wings, feet, hands, and tail.
My spouse caught a teeny sanguini in Dragon Quest Monsters and named it Sandwich. This brings me an inordinate amount of joy in a time when I really need it.

08.02.2025 16:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's some surprising things you can do with honey or sugar substitutes using Pomona pectin because it binds with calcium rather than sugar! But that is probably not what Grandma did π¬

Okay, so you're using Signal for encrypted messaging. Cool. It's a good time to use usernames instead of a phone number to talk to people. That and lots more about how to make the most of Signal's security features in here: freedom.press/digisec/blog...
