16.02.2026 13:21 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Another day, another email to @hfxgov.bsky.social councillors. TL:DR - I'm happy to pay more in tax for a city that works for everyone. Prioritise safe streets, public transit, accessibility & environment. Ditch that #CarBrain. #ZeroVisionHFX Link to email here docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Did you know? Halifax Transit will quickly become far less accessible if Halifax Council approves the reduction in snow clearing service for transit stops and sidewalks.
15.02.2026 18:04 — 👍 51 🔁 22 💬 4 📌 1Val's thread (below) contains many great points in favour of maintaining dedicated transit lanes in Halifax. Write the mayor, public works minister Fred Tilley, and your MLA and ask them to help keep buses moving. 🚌

I live off Lacewood and I would like that road to be different.
And a highway for everyone to speed through it all, much to the detriment of kids and families walking
14.02.2026 22:24 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Big ticket items are omitted -
Mill Cove Ferry (weak ridership at a huge cost)
Windsor St Exchange - absurdly expensive
Alternatives to resurfacing far too wide roads, including potential sale of surplus land.
This list is ghoulish. There are ways to raise funds, for example driving demand for transit by reallocating car lanes to bus lanes. HRM councillors should be ambitious, not ditch all that is good.
14.02.2026 21:55 — 👍 21 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0They're superb and deserve more dedicated bus lanes

14.02.2026 13:13 — 👍 10 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0There’s no such thing as an accident when it comes to traffic or workplace injuries or death. An inquest is definitely warranted to determine how to prevent this from happening again. And an investigation to determine liability.
14.02.2026 12:42 — 👍 8 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0Without adopting an ambitious harm reduction goal, we will simply see more deference to the movement of vehicles, which will take precedence over safety objectives
(See Windsor St Exchange, Robie St, BRT reliant on road widening, etc)
this part omits the important "per capita" proviso. The municipality has no actual goal to achieve Vision Zero, nor will any councillor to date formally propose that we should adopt one

Follow-up joint advocacy with HRM requesting a detailed action plan was unsuccessful. This is the response from the Province (thread)
