A new AARP Florida report, “Change of Ownership and Quality in Florida Nursing Homes,” finds that more than one-third of Florida nursing homes have changed ownership since 2019, many purchased by private-equity or investor-owned groups.

Problems followed some of Vermont’s largest and most troubled nursing homes after state approved new ownership - VTDigger Under a provisionary — but longstanding — ownership transfer process, these nursing home operators were approved by the state out of the public eye.

“The whole point of the federal nursing home law is that you don’t accept residents for whom you cannot provide safety and care,” Mollot said.
