If we have to pay to rent movies again on a subscription service, we should just reopen Blockbuster.

Itโ€™s not just Medicaid funding theyโ€™re withholding to MN. Itโ€™s food assistance, child care assistance, social services, job training, safety testing, public health, disaster relief. SNAP. Free lunch for kids in school.

They hate us for loving our neighbors, and are collectively punishing us for it.

They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.

"Moderna's CEO announced the company will no longer invest in new Phase 3 vaccine trials for infectious diseases: 'You cannot make a return on investment if you don't have access to the U.S. market. Vaccines for Epstein-Barr virus, herpes, and shingles have been shelved.โ€

In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

A medieval illustration of a hedgehog with grapes skewered on its spines

It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isnโ€™t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

ICE are alllll over Harlem right now, 116 & Frederick Douglass, checking IDs and targeting the areaโ€™s African community. Multiple people have been detained.

Community members are advising folks to carry citizenship documents - or stay away if they are at risk

โ€œEverybody Showed Upโ€: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.

Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maherโ€™s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Waelโ€™s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didnโ€™t get to say goodbye.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Hard to convey how much you can tangibly feel the love and care for one another people are showing here in Minneapolis. Even in the few days weโ€™ve been here more businesses have come on board with the strike and we've met people from every walk of like doing the work to keep each other safe.

I wish I could say I feel vindicated by this long-awaited study, but I'm just... exhausted.

I take no joy in sharing covid info. This shit's horrifying at every turn.

But disabled people have to care doubly because the world doesn't care at all.

The past 5 years feel like 20.

ICE Deems Being In Privacy Of Own Home Obstruction Of Justice WASHINGTONโ€”Warning that any attempt to spend time inside a personal residence constituted hostile interference with federal operations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced Thursday...

โ€œWhen an individual enters their residence, conceals themselves behind a closed door, and attempts to go about their everyday life, they are willfully impeding the important work of law enforcement officers and engaging in domestic terrorism,โ€ said DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin

Deporting children with cancer.
Using a 5-year-old as bait.
Shooting moms.

ICE is beyond reform. And today the House is voting to bankroll more terror. Hell no.

United States Completes WHO Withdrawal
WASHINGTON โ€” ย January 22, 2026 โ€” The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of State today announced the United Statesโ€™ completion of its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) due to the organization's mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, its failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

I am going to BEG you to search out challengers in your area who state explicitly that they're for abolishing ICE, for healthcare and affordable housing, anti-genocide, ahead of the midterms. Now it's time to build campaigns, to canvass, to get visibility. Let's provide folks with an alternative.

ICE is not the gestapo.
ICE is the descendant of slave patrols.
ICE is the descendant of the indigenous child abductors for boarding schools.
ICE is the descendant of the Jim Crow South law enforcement.
ICE is the descendent of night riders.
Before the U.S looks to anyone else's history to equate what ICE is like, the U.S. needs to remember its own history.
And remember that many modern day atrocities were inspired by how this country treated its marginalized.

The Origins of Modern Day Policing Learn about the history of modern day policing in the U.S., home to the worldโ€™s largest prison population and highest per-capita incarceration rate.

Two things this morning:

1) It's very important to understand that what brought us here is American history. Policing in this country began because of slave patrols. Read on.

ICE is not Gestapo, but slave patrols.

It's not foreign, but deeply American, categorical brutalization of non-white people (& now those who stand up for them).

They do not need to have warrants, and people facing deportation are not entitled to lawyers, or what we imagine as due process.

Itโ€™s not so much that Trump & co donโ€™t think slavery was important, they want to remove this history precisely *because* of how important it was. They donโ€™t want people to learn about slavery because then people would understand how it continues to shape the landscape of inequality in America today.
