Sió was a Catalan cartoonist who began his career during the dictatorship but his work blossomed post-Franco with the adult comics boom in the '70s. One of the first to do what we might now call a graphic novel. He's been translated into French and IIRC did some work in English for Warren.

The cover for the Criterion edition of POINT BLANK (1967, dir. John Boorman): the left half of the cover is broken up into four differently-colored vertical panels showing the same distressed face, slightly fragmented, while the right half is a low-angle shot of Lee Marvin The cover for the Criterion edition of KLUTE (1971, dir. Alan J. Pakula), which is divided into a tight grid of differently-colored tiles fragmenting Donald Sutherland and Jane Fonda’s faces

contemplating a comic that feels like these two Criterion covers

i see a lot of people bemoaning gen z not being aware of or curious about music before they were born but i don't see a lot of people bemoaning the fact that as a society we've agreed with the boomers that it's pointless to be aware of or curious about music from before they were born

We actually need more people who didn’t come from the working class to be pro-working class policies. This is a politically good thing but too many people treat it as a reason for a gotcha that often only serves elite interests—who want us to think class politics are congenital or can’t move left.

The roughest daylight savings time I’ve ever experienced. Wife and I both exhausted. Just absolutely can’t get it together. It is dangerously foggy here so maybe not getting any extra light. Odd

The playful, prolific use of hyperlinks in online journalism (eg Slate, Pitchfork) didn’t anticipate link-rot. Now so many articles are pock-marked with cryptic allusions that some long-dead link once explained. Weird how quickly a new style comes to feel more archaic than the traditional format
