From the heel of Rozelle Bay, I look east to Sydney City on a wet dawn.
We had two days of sunshine, and now the rain is back for several days.

Cityscape
From the heel of Rozelle Bay, I look east to Sydney City on a wet dawn.
We had two days of sunshine, and now the rain is back for several days.
Piano keys and trees.
Sydneyβs Surry Hills.
Bridge
I often post shots of the ANZAC Bridge, itβs a wonderful piece of architecture.
Looking across Blackwattle Bay, todayβs Sydney dawn gave me a mauve wink
And more coming from tomorrowπ₯²

I happened to find myself at Coogee beach, with only my phone, I did my best to show you a spectacular Sydney winterβs day.

Around dawn, fog had settled on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

This inviting cul de sac is named Arthur Lane.
Maybe a little spooky in the rat friendly hours, but in daylight the structure on the left is part of a local Surry Hills preschool with laughter and squeals filling the air.
I love the mystery of Sydney in the dark.
Tram
Sydney has three Light Rail lines, two share this section of track.
On a damp early morning (post overnight storms) we are seeing either an L2 or L3 tram heading east out of the city, travelling down Devonshire Street, crossing Crown Street, about to pass Surry Hills icon, Bourke Street Bakery.
Dawn
A Sydney dawn report: the solid blanket of cloud started to break upβ¦. only to reform into (the now familiar) sky blocking mass.
And I got wet in my pursuit of enlightenment.
Tree
Ruby (the staffy x) and I were walking in the drizzle this afternoon, looking for a brief respite, we hid behind a gum tree at Surry Hillsβ Arthur Street Reserve.
I looked up to see the wind had blown the rain to the protected side and formed rivulets like tears down a cheek.
Hey! Tim Ritchie here with an invite to listen to a two hour selection of the finest music I tenderly selected just for you. Join me on the mighty 2SER Saturday, August 2, 6-8pm for When The Levee Breaks.

Beach
Another crappy Sydney day, but I set out to see what was doing at Bronte Beach at dawn.
Blowy, cold and wet.
Uluru
A crappy weather day was had in Sydney today.
So an unpublished shot from this time a year ago when I visited the red centre.
We gathered in the dark and rain at the base of Uluru for a walk around the rock. By the time we finished we were bathed in sunshine.
Tree
It is definitely not a cycling morning in Sydney for this old timer.
Too wet for me, but I am committed.
Out the front of my house in Surry Hills is an example of the contentious plane tree.
Nearly missed it due to the camouflage.
Apartments
It was once the Australian dream to own a house with a yard.
That dream is now an apartment near transport and a park.
This block is in Sydneyβs Zetland, which was named after the Earl of Zetland in the 1870βs by his relative Governor Sir Hercules Robinson (bet he didnβt live in an apartment).
Dawn
Brief but impressive.
Crimson hues above North Sydney with boats nestled in Berrys Bay.
Blue sky
Another stunning winter sky over apartments in Sydneyβs Surry Hills.

Darling Harbour is a sparkling pocket on Sydney Harbour.
Itβs a clear dawn with a light cool breeze that tells you know that youβre alive.
Laneway
McLachlan Way on the eastern boarder of Sydneyβs Darlinghurst is well lit, but still gives off a psycho vibe.

A study in bodies of water and bridges.
Looking across Rozelle Bay, on to White Bay and the Sydney Harbour I encounter ANZAC Bridge with the Sydney Harbour Bridge huddled below.
Benign clouds and not too cool at dawn.
Cottages
Sir Charles Fitzroy was Governor of New South Wales 1846-55.
And they named this street in Sydneyβs Surry Hills after him.
And what were once humble workers cottages now start at 6 figures.
Times change.
Write the book!
25.07.2025 07:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Old Fitz Theatre in Sydneyβs Woolloomooloo is in the basement of the 150 year old Ild Fitzroy Hotel.
The theatre can only seat 55 people, so book early.
Iβm here particularly early, no one at the stage door.
Sydney
I cop some flack when I comment on the cold, but this morning was bitter.
The soon to rise sun is at my back as I look across Farm Cove from Mrs Macquarieβs point to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Wharf
Itβs my wifeβs birthday, so I had to get home before she woke.
A clear cool morning on Sydney Harbour with just a hint of first light off the end of the Double Bay ferry wharf.
Urban
A little damp this morning, Bourke Street south of Cleveland Street.
This part is in Sydneyβs Redfern.
Dawn
I do hunt colour drama at dawn, Sydney this morning was a little damp this morning, so the sky was quite muted.
I do admire the swimmers doing laps in the naturally cool Bronte Beach ocean pool.
Apartments
In the days of the colony, landowner, John Macarther, held a picnic on this peninsula on a fine December day in 1806.
He noted a natural water spring and named the peninsula after a spa town in northern Germany.
Sydneyβs Pyrmont has changed a lot since then.
City lights
The few lights on the Sofitel at Sydneyβs Darling Harbour indicates Iβm out early.
The bright lights at the International Convention Centre says itβs more expensive to turn the off than the cost to have them on all night.
