Violette and Co perquisitionnée, une dérive autoritaire inédite et préoccupante

Le 7 janvier 2026, la librairie·café féministe, lesbienne et LGBTQIA+ Violette and Co a subi une perquisition irrégulière visant à saisir des livres. Cette descente de police disproportionnée dans un lieu culturel est inédite en France et très préoccupante quant aux libertés fondamentales des librairies.

Une perquisition dans une librairie indépendante : un dispositif inédit et disproportionné

Mercredi 7 janvier, à l’ouverture de la librairie, 5 policiers en uniforme, accompagnés d’un Procureur de la République sont entrés dans les locaux de Violette and Co afin de procéder à une perquisition, dans le but annoncé de saisir le livre de coloriage From the River to the Sea.

Pendant quarante-cinq minutes, la librairie a fait l’objet d’une fouille méthodique : rayonnages inspectés, cartons de livres ouverts un à un, réserves et salle de pause fouillées devant les salarié·es présent·es sur place, choqué·es et impuissant·es. La scène est particulièrement frappante : des policiers en uniforme, armes à la ceinture, filmant les lieux à l’aide de caméras-piétons et contrôlant une trentaine de cartons de livres à la recherche d’un ouvrage qui ne se trouvait plus en stock. Au rez-de-chaussée, deux policiers, dont l’un était masqué, sont restés positionnés près de l’entrée de la librairie, empêchant l’accès aux client·es.0

Après une fouille infructueuse, le procureur nous informe que nous sommes convoquées au commissariat du 11ème arrondissement le jeudi 22 janvier pour une audition libre, dans le cadre d’une enquête préliminaire. Nous en profitons pour demander des nouvelles de la plainte que nous avons envoyée début septembre au Procureur de la République pour les dégradations et menaces subies par Violette and Co en août dernier : après une réponse très floue, nous apprendrons quelques heures plus tard au téléphone que notre plainte a été “perdue”.

Fouille irrégulière avec policier masqué pour intimider d'un côté et plainte déposée par les libraires contre les dégradations et menaces de la part de l'extrême-droite "perdue" de l'autre...

Un des policiers intervenant a le visage masqué.
Ils avancent de pseudo-arguments légaux sur des choses non-jugées et inexistantes en droit (aucune décision de justice sur ce livre).
Toute ressemblance etc.

When they leave the nest, they're adult-sized, but they're still young and learning" and a fledgling pigeon is flying out of a building saying "aaaaaa". Panel 5 says "Here's how to identify these young pigeons" and shows a fledgling pigeon with arrows pointing to these features: eyes may be gray-brown, pale-edged feathers, smaller "nose" (cere), subdued hues, and looks worried. Panel 6 says "Scientifically speaking, though, all pigeons are sweet babies" and there are three very cute round pigeons, a gray, white, and red one, with arrows pointing to them to make things look scientific.

A bird/human monstrosity sits on a train looking at its phone as the countryside goes by out the window. The train stops and the bird puts down its crossword app to look at a town flying an italian flag. "Huh?" asks the guy/bird "How did I get to Ireland?" A neighbouring passenger says (in italian) "This is the italian flag ... you're in Italy" to which our bird responds "...um" while typing on its phone. In the final panel we see the screen of the bird's phone, where it is trying to translate from English to Irish "Where can I go birdwatching?" Typing this out makes it seem like it doesn't make any sense. But to paraphrase Mitch Hedberg, go inside my head and then tell me it's not funny.
