Takeaways from AP's report on the ICE detention center holding children and parents Many Americans were alarmed when ICE officers in Minneapolis detained a 5-year-old boy and his father last month and sent them to a Texas detention center.

ICE booked more than 3,800 children into detention during the first 9 months of trump 2.0. Most children are sent to Dilley. More than half of Dilley detainees are children. ICE is holding many children beyond the 20-day limit set by a court order. Some have been imprisoned for months.

A new rule proposed by HUD would ban families with any member who is an undocumented immigrant from living in federally subsidized housing. The rule also would require local housing authorities to report any tenant not eligible for rental aid to ICE.
