if you suffer from reflux, you should ask for an EGD when you get your colonoscopy. They can do both procedures together and only have anesthesia once. They do the EGD first (usually takes less than 10 mins) then the colonoscopy. People with reflux have a higher chance of esophageal cancer. Just FYI

I know some encourage the cologuard test. There are quite a few false positives with them though. If you have a positive test you have to get a colonoscopy anyway. Then it’s considered diagnostic not preventative care, which means you pay more. Insurance just sucks!!

Endoscopy nurse here. Your first colonoscopy should be at 45 not 50. Especially important if you have any family history! Just do it, it’s not a big deal!!
