Goal is to teach how to set up a project to support a lot of code in a way that's performant and easy to maintain: gsap, canvas API, global stores for things like motion preference and light/dark mode, esbuild, npm, github, VS Code, and JS. All on top of Webflow.

I agree. It'll be more performant and a ton more useful features (depending on how many of the gsap plugins they bring in natively) than we currently have.
