I think it helped that I could literally show them my house from the window in my recovery room. That it was late January didn't help and they made me swaddle him in layers until he was the size of a cured ham

I did walk (the one block) home after Owen was born, but the nursing staff insisted I could only walk once I was off hospital property. They pushed the wheelchair right up to the line in the sidewalk.

But I thought they also didn't really like the practice of walking on the escalators, so what does it matter?

So grateful for my incredibly supportive stand partner and fellow violists. It’s such an uplifting community.

Trying to do this while also having the puppies and some other life shifts all at once was way more than anyone should be able to handle. Hoping I can build regular home practice into my routine in the next season or two, to get even more out of it.

In my kitchen I have a couple panels I made to cover gaps between cabinets and my not-plumb walls. I decorated them with sand dollars, shells, sharks’ teeth, marbles, sand—stuff my mom has collected from walking on the beach back home.

This morning Evie pried off a shark jaw and ate it 😳🦈

Four of them left yesterday for new fosters. One of the ones still here with me has an adopter, and lots of applications have come in. They can all go to forever homes at 8 weeks (so 13 days from now)
