If I were still making appearances on CNN, I would tell listeners to start from the assumption that everything Trump said tonight—across two hours—was untrue, and I would then proceed to outline the four or five things he said that were accurate.

*That's* how you fact-check him.

Every Trump State of the Union is X-rated for violence, and that's because he *demands* it.

He's obsessed with describing extreme acts of violence, and again I'll tell you quite clearly—as a Trump biographer and presidential historian—that it's because he's sexually aroused by it.

I actually think the behavior of the Republicans in the audience has been more noteworthy than Trump’s speech itself.

The braying, boorish jeers and yawps of a party fully given over to fascism.

Trump publicly using children for advancing his political agenda while, simultaneously, multitudes of childhood sexual abuse allegations are raised against him – is a dystopia that never stops hitting.
