Day 12 of #WomenWhoRethoughtTheWorld: US #peace activist and organizer Addie Hunton!

Hunton rethought Black #internationalism and promoted racial justice as a condition of peace. To quote Melinda Plastas, she “helped usher in a reconfigured Black political consciousness."

Extract from school log book: 300 on books now. Only 5 leavers in August. 110-120 boys to be transferred from Infants School. If the new houses now nearing completion near the school are occupied by that time it will be difficult to find accommodation for the children. I shall be one or two classrooms short.

Today is School Archives Day

This week we’ve welcomed classes from Ysgol Coed-y-Gof and Hywel Dda Primary to the Archives. They visited to discover more about the development of the housing and community at Ely and Caerau.

Thank you for visiting.

A handwritten manuscript listing gardening expenses Post image Post image

One of the most important parts of the medieval Abbey was College Garden, which was used to grow food and medicinal herbs and was home to a fishpond and beehives. The gardener's expenses are recorded in these handwritten accounts in our archive.
