Can we talk about the accompanying photo? The attacker was killed by private security, so why do we include a photo of an armed FBI agent in camo? It's almost as though they're subliminally trying to tie stopping the attack to the actions of the federal government. π€¨
Tillis will fold faster than a slice of New York pizza! π
The more I see Nick McKim (Australian Green Party) the more I love the guy...oh how I miss sane, rational, and passionate elected fighters!
Thinking lately how sad it is that the new "πΌπ’ππ§ππππ£ πΏπ§πππ’" for more and more of us who are tired of the spiraling insanity, is to simply no longer live here.
180,000+ American citizens were fortunate enough to emigrate overseas last year; I expect closer to 250,000 will make it out this year.
Damn it...they just won't let us have ANYTHING!π
"Nice Strait you got there...it'd be a shame if anything happened to it."
The guy has voted FOR every bill that restricts a woman's right to choose. He voted AGAINST stopping the attacks on both Venezuela and Iran. He's voted FOR every bill limiting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. And he strongly supports the SAVE Act! He's about as independent as Jim Jordan π
You can bet your ass conference calls went on today between the Trump regime and a veritable who's who of Wall Street power brokers (i.e., Jamie Dimon, Larry Fink, et. al), agreeing on a strategy to mitigate the damage. They'll let the market sink early then come in unison with massive buys.
Let's be clear...only 15 of those are retiring. Eight are running for the Senate, 10 are running for Governor, and 1 is running for Attorney General. They're trying to move up - not out! Oh, and there are 21 Democrats doing the same (13 retiring, 7 running for Senate, and 1 running for Governor).
Guess this was just the impetus I needed to finally subscribe! π
I can hear the chant swelling now: But...but...but...but...whaddabout BENGHAZI!!! π
It's a staggering and sickening realization when you finally come to grips with the immutable fact that somewhere around a quarter or more of the U.S. adult populace would gleefully sign-up to be guards at Auschwitz if given the opportunity. π
Finally got around to watching "All the Empty Rooms" on Netflix...the short (35 min) documentary about Steve Hartman's and Lou Bopp's 7-year project to photograph every bedroom of every child killed in a school shooting. It's like a cattle prod to the heart! π
How about a little horse-trading? Canada gives Alberta to the U.S. and in return gets the New England states plus New York. As a Mass resident that seems consummately fair to me!
I find myself watching these edits more and more frequently lately, just to make sure I never lose sight of what true class, kindness, leadership, and empathy actually look like!
Unfortunately, I think they've proven beyond a reasonable doubt that a large swath of Americans are, in fact, utter idiots! π
You're certainly not missing out on much! Most of us in the XY set tend to be rather emotionally bereft, petulant, and deeply flawed. π
Zero clucks given!
But...but...but Hunter's laptop...Obama's tan suit...Benghazi and Hillary's private email server!!! π΅βπ«
Watching the unflinching determination of Minneapolis resisters this past week, it reminded me of this old Tumblr post about the RMS Carpathia's response to the Titanic sinking. When things seem futile, I like to give this a reread to remind me that we're far more capable than we realize.
If you ever get to Porto, make sure you check out the 3rd floor antique camera collection at The Portuguese Centre of Photography...it's a massive and beautiful collection
If there's a more poignant social critique of the current state of western Democracy than this new release from Ren, I've yet to see it!! I'm by no means a huge fan of rap, but this is so on point and poetic. It's a 10-minute watch (turn CC on). Oh, and Act III is breath-takingly heart-wrenching. π
To be fair, however, why should they be the ones to have to clean up our mess? If grandpa is throwing around lamps and trashing your house, it shouldn't be your neighbor's job to stop him. It's up to you to restrain him and put him in a home.
When Powell's term expires in 4 months (May 15th), you can bet Trump will nominate Kevin Hassett for Fed Chair - the man who Jonathan Last of The Bulwark called "Conservatismβs Invincible Ignoramus," and the one candidate who'll do exactly what he's told.
It's going to be a bloodbath in the market.
Not that I'm grieving his disappearance, but where the F has the 'human thumb' gone?
Did someone Jimmy Hoffa him under the new ballroom foundation? Seems like right after the "bag of cash" allegations he just went π¨ which makes me think there's a whole lot more people didn't want to see uncovered.
Your not fooling me, this is because Crazy Grandpa had that big faucet turned on so the water from Canada would flow down to California instead of into the Pacific! π€£
2. If cismen menstruated: They would say women can't be priests or ministers because God gave his blood for our sins. So, without a monthly purge of impurities, women are too 'unclean.'
The simple truth is: power only cares about 'defining' reality, not discovering what reality actually is! [2/2]
Two thoughts for the day, paraphrased from Gloria Steinem:
1. If cismen had periods: Generals, right wing politicians and religious fundamentalists would cite it as proof that only men should serve in combat, shouting "You have to give blood to take blood! [1/2]
Not that we don't already have enough on our plate to worry about...but think about this for a minute:
When the ship is finally righted and ICE is abolished, we'll still have to deal with 22,000+ of the worst humans imaginable suddenly returned to their prior impotency...and oh how they will rage!
Okay, hear me out. We start a 'GoFundMe' that raises enough money to convince Prime Minister Nielsen of Greenland to officially change the country's name to 'Obamastan' for the next three years. If that doesn't trigger a massive ischemic stroke, I don't know what will!! π
