It is a catastrophic misfire that our national conversation about tech regulation is focused on age limits and not on using state power to build a cordon sanitaire against the fascist rot which has overtaken the three largest social media providers

Reform don't want to regulate your landlord.

They don't want to regulate your employer.

But they do want to regulate your sex life.

The whole US concept of a city is so far removed from Europe (and even to an extent LATAM).

Quite the scenes on Good Morning Britain as Ed Balls tells Kemi Badenoch her student loan interest plan will only help the richest ex-students. After she insists he's wrong, GMB bring on Martin Lewis to back up Balls' argument and tell her the plan makes no sense.

Though those of us from the Grim North who went to That London for work then moved back when we were priced out have found that the house prices back here shot up while we were gone (and were spending more than the total cost of our parents' mortgage on rent in several years).

The version of AI that β€œworks” always seems to go to another school.

But some people are also clearly happy to accept the junk the shit versions turn out.

Go to the next hotel around the lagoon and it’s the site of John Lennon signing the papers that formalised the breakup of The Beatles.

And the baffling thing that people in positions of power are in thrall to them, and hang off their every word.

There’s loads of these people, particularly in political life, at all levels. They make a living off cultivating an address book of people of power and influence. Everything is a favour done for a return at a later date. And then they cut off those who are of no more use to them.

I just did the dumbest thing of my entire career to prove a much more serious point.

I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users I’m a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion

People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I’ll explain how I did it

A short 🧡

This is a really good article & shows the challenge MPs face.

I received over 2,000 emails last month in our casework system; this covers 'campaign emails', personalised emails (often asking for my view on something) and people getting in touch who needing my team's support.

80% of "AI is great" stories amount to "I'm too lazy to think for myself, I've invented a clunkier version of something that already works well"

I spent 12 years working for MPs and there’s so much from @lizzicollinge.bsky.social and @aliceolilly.bsky.social that rings true.

Every time I see the argument, I just think "Yeah, but I can't see a doctor *now* - the problem is already here!"

The population of my county hasn't increased in 20 years (and is getting steadily older) and yet more homes are needed.
