absolutely haha Even the zakos are like the trickiest little buggers. Took me a month to get used to looking at the player sprite too.. something about it makes it kinda tough to follow at first

As much fun I’m having with it, there’s still the feeling I’m missing out on other shmups 😭😅

If I’m being honest, I thought I’d have cleared sdoj by now… started playing it may/june time. Only just getting started on stage 5. Toughest game I’ve tried to clear yet.

So there’s ´´bullet curtains’´ and then there’s this 😳 Maybe dial it back a bit 😂

Absolute pleasure - judging from what I’ve played so far this really is gonna be something special. Best indie game I’ve played this year, good luck on the launch!

Put the sdoj grind on hold to play the birdcage demo and wow! The sword feels as cool as it looks, the music by is sooo good and I had an absolute blast playing around with the normal mode demo. Now I can’t wait for the full game! #shmup #stg #birdcage

Maybe there aren’t enough… got a ‘hand’ cam, game cam, joystick movement, background art… perhaps I should add a face cam, heart rate monitor, eye tracking, current calorie intake, vo2 max, mic, internal joystick mic, weather tracker, current mood indicator & possibly cpu/gpu usage. That’d sort it.

I need to look at my settings then, maybe I’ve got too many overlays running 😉

I didn’t realise how bad that slowdown was till I put the sound on (I was playing whilst listening to music) but then the in-game soundtrack stuttered so badly. Are you playing this one? Be interested to see if there’s a way to get the mame one running right.

Looking at some of my clips I was learning the SDOJ stage 3 boss back in June… 3 months later I’m finally getting to grips with the stage 4 boss. At this rate it’ll be 2026 before I clear this shmup! Still loving the journey though, even as tough as it is.

Updated score (from ps4 port) 514,240 - slowdown on mame made the bosses way easier (comparatively 😅)

Cheers, I played on the ps4 a bit back, & then at Arcade Club. Not put that much time in, maybe an hour? I think the slowdown on mame really helped this score… might post ps4/mame scores separately. No scoring tips that I can share yet.

Funny old game this one, only tried the mame port so far, some weird movement swing as the screen moves but I dig the visuals and sound. Played this at Arcade Club a bit, but managed to beat my score this evening
