But criterion ii.) is nonsense since explanation cannot be circular because explanation presupposes explanadum. (God cannot create himself, because the action of creation presupposes existence

Explication of ii) Reflexive causation is the kind of causation/explanation wherein the the explanatory dependence is circular. Things like God creating himself (obviously not the same thing, since this is creatio ex nihilo, but this is the same type of causation)

(ii) In order for something to be free, no sufficient cause can be explanatorily anterior to it (that's not to say that there must be no antecedent cause, it just must not be sufficient)
