Happy World Soil Day! Healthy soil stores carbon, protects against erosion, and keeps farms thriving. Combined with climate-smart livestock practices including genetics, feed additives, optimized feed, and methane-inhibiting boluses for cattle, ag can tackle climate change from the ground up. πŸŒΎπŸ‚

Media training at California Cattlemen’s Association’s 109th Convention happening now! Our Associate Director for Comms on why it's important to do good things & talk about them. "If you're not sharing your story, someone else is going to tell them." Here's the kicker β€” may not be the most accurate.

It’s been a great start here in Reno at the California Cattlemen's Association’s 109th Annual Convention!

Yesterday, our graduate students interviewed for CCA scholarships and today, the team at UC Davis CLEAR Center is here to talk science, sustainability, and solutions.

At the UC Davis CLEAR Center, PhD student, Sharissa Anderson is leading this early-life intervention study to see how one small bolus can make a big difference. Her work shows that even small changes early in life can have a lasting impact on livestock sustainability.

This slow-release bolus sits in a calf's rumen (first chamber of its stomach) & gradually releases an active ingredient that can potentially impact ruminal environment where methane is formed. By giving this bolus shortly after birth, we can potentially lower an individual animal's methane output.

Our team is exploring innovative ways to make cattle production more sustainable. At the heart of this work is a single bolus introduced early in a calf's life. πŸ’Š πŸ‚
