#socialcare - essential support that most of us will need at some point in our lives. And this is how treat the people who provide that care.

NHS England chief Penny Dash says wasting billions ‘makes me want to cry’ The new chairwoman of NHS England also says that poor care for the poorest communities is a ‘stain on our country’

Dr Dash left the public sector for years to work for McKinsey who, along with other major consultancies have fleeced the NHS for £billions of low value advice which is responsible for a lot of our problems. Deeply hypocritical

Labour peer David Lipsey found dead after swimming in River Wye Former journalist and adviser to Callaghan government, 77, was pulled from water on Tuesday

Distressed by this news. David was a good friend & an indefatigable advocate for social care reform (though we didn’t always agree). My condolences to his family.

PM launches new era for NHS with easier care in neighbourhoods The Prime Minister launches a new era for the NHS, bringing more easily accessible care closer to home.

Who could argue against a neighbourhood health service? But #socialcare reform is on an entirely different trajectory - a missed opportunity? NHC won’t work properly without it.

If enacted this will see the State finding new £ & staff to help people kill themselves whilst hospice care in many places is being reduced. Is that the outcome legislators intend? If not what are they going to do about the latter?

“It seems inevitable”, warns Siva Anandaciva, that the cost of the Fair Pay Agreement will have to come out of the extra £4b for adult social care. If so, this will be immensely disappointing.
