The Important Thing Is to Win! Connecting Richard Nixon to the History of NBA Labor Negotiations

The WNBA players are now just asking for 26% of revenue. This is down from 27.5%.
www.espn.com/wnba/story/_...

According to the NBA/WNBA owners math, the player just gave up $70 million. Or $100 million.

Yes, the NBA's own numbers tell different stories.

To me, it appears that the supremacy of Caitlin Clark is the made up "media narrative." Other players are just a lot more interesting and impressive to me - both on the court and off - than she is.

@lawandchaospod.bsky.social I’m finally ready to stop being a podcast freeloader and subscribe. @lizdye.bsky.social & @andrewtorrez.bsky.social, is there any upside to you if people subscribe on Patreon v Substack or vis versa? I’m happy to do either one.

Trump snubbed as U.S. Women’s Hockey Team declines State of the Union invitation Olympic champions opt out of high-profile White House moment, citing scheduling conflicts

NEWS: The gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team has declined an invitation to attend Trump’s State of the Union.

This comes after Trump was heard telling the men’s team he’d begrudgingly invite the women’s champions or risk impeachment.

Hmm… Which of the following “enticing perks” is the WNBA most likely to next offer the players in its effort to close the CBA deal?

A. Coupon for Olive Garden’s never ending soup, salad & breadsticks.

B. 1 entry into HGTV’s Dream Home Sweepstakes

C. Clinique free gift with $55 purchase.

the "WNBA doesn't make a profit" crowd is going to move the goalposts pretty fast here, mostly because their investment isn't in the facts as much as it is in making women feel small

“The W declined to provide…the amount of revenue generated…or the number required to trigger the revenue sharing…(&) declined to comment.”

@wnba.com & @nba.com

Multiple choice:
A) Play stupid games win stupid prizes

B) F around and find out

C) How do you like them apples?

D) ALL OF THE ABOVE

HA!!

Perfect timing. The league is out of excuses. Time to pony up get a fair CBA done!

“Under the 2020 CBA, players receive 50% of shared revenue -- defined in the CBA as the amount of revenue over a predetermined threshold minus 30%. In 2025, the players' portion amounted to about $16 million.”

Opinion | What It Would Look Like to Pay W.N.B.A. Players What They Deserve (Gift Article) Other professional sports leagues give their players roughly 50 percent of the revenue, but the W.N.B.A. players get less than 10 percent.

The idea the WNBA can’t “afford” to pay players the same % the NBA pays is garbage. And NBA owners (who own a majority stake in the W) know it.

NBA players have earned 40% of revenue for over 50 yrs - including when the NBA was smaller than the W is now and when it was claiming to be unprofitable.

I heard her say that. Really interesting. I think, if it’s true, the league is seriously overplaying their hand. The momentum is with the players. I think…

When you say there’s recently been more “movement” in the WNBA CBA negotiations, what exactly do you mean? It seems to me, only the players have made concessions. And they’ve also been the only ones taking this seriously the whole last year.
