Sometimes when I drive home in the evening, there are beautiful sunsets. I want to pull over on highway. This would be irresponsible. Unless, my granddaughter is driving the car. Then, no problem. Shoot through the windshield. The problem then…dirty windshield.

I don’t think I am a winter photographer because when it gets this cold all I can think about are warm baths. I can’t find the birds & the flowers are gone. There is ice. There is lots and lots of ice! I’m originally a California girl.

I went to feed the birds at the frozen inlet. I was as cold as the ice. I fought the sun to get this one shot of a juvenile gull that looked stuck to the surface. Galen Rowell said: "The light changes so fast that by the time you've thought about the shot, it's gone."
