i consider it a sign of the reactionary shift in the overton window that it is difficult to criticize one of the most hegemonic and powerful institutions on earth without getting piled on by "progressive" defenders, even if you add the caveat/hedge of "extremism"

People want cities to somehow not be cities, and then condemn city-dwellers for liking the things that make a city a city and opposing the things that destroy cities merely so suburbanites can feel comfortable passing thru once a month.

All this is to say, even without going into the specifics of why individual herbicides, fungicides, rodentcides or insecticides are bad, we can easily broadly outline non-woo, non-reactionary, rationale as to why it ain't good to use chemicals to annihilate elements that "cause" agricultural issues.
