It's Michaelmas, so it's also the anniversary of the battle of Auray (1364), which marked the beginning of the end of the Breton War of Succession begun 23 years earlier. And you know what? Let's mark it with a 🚨BOOK GIVEAWAY🚨 this time! (Charles de Blois has never had a stranger memorial...)

Only time I have felt in real danger, was on my own late at night on the streets of Naples. was def not going to ask the groups of local guys staring as I walked by for help, so I found an elderly African in colourful clothes. He couldn’t speak English but he got me to safety. Hurray for immigrants

no, they don't want me in the women's bathroom. or the men's bathroom. they don't want gender-neutral bathrooms or special "trans only" bathrooms (like some will claim). they want me to simply not exist.

This is Brigadier General William A. Beiderlinden who in April 1945 defied an explicit order to shell the city and university of Heidelberg.
Beiderlinden had never attended Heidelberg university. But he felt strongly that destroying a storied academic institution, even in war, should be avoided.1/2
