Presented at #CCR25:

In the ANH phase 3 trial involving adult patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery, acute normovolemic hemodilution did not reduce the number of patients receiving allogeneic red-cell transfusion. Full trial results: nej.md/3FxdMrW

Does CPR before donor death affect organ function?

We found that organs from donors who received CPR has similar outcomes to organs from donors who didn’t receive CPR.

Kidneys/livers after uDCD showed worse outcomes compared to DBD.

Figure 2: Cumulative incidence curves for WLST with censoring at 60 days (A) and at 7 days (B) Curves are stratified by diagnosis. Timepoint 0 was considered as day 1 of ICU admission. The curves account for the competing risk of death not preceded by WLST. As shown, WLST occurred earlier in patients with ABI. For the analysis in panel A, the censoring proportion was 69Β·0%. For the analysis in panel B, the censoring proportion was 81Β·2%. Patients were censored for live discharge from hospital or transfer to another facility. Analyses were fitted by use of data from the ISMV cohort where a single date for WLST was provided regardless of whether the outcome was a withdrawal or withholding event.
