Let's hear it for ivy! The last flower of the year is one of the best for pollinators, vital for a last feed for butterflies such as the red admiral. Learn a little more...

Q: Why was the person responsible for the Blackwater fish kill never found?
A: it wasnโt anybodyโs job.
I talked to the heads of all the agencies involved in the investigation, about why the biggest pollution event in Irish history fell between the cracks.

With a bit of luck, I'll have an abundance of Devil's bit scabious, Field scabious,Greater knapweed and Goldenrod. All seed gathered from local plants, pesticide free, insecticide free, & suited to the needs of local insects and invertebrates. #peatfree compost, minimal expense. Worth trying.
08.10.2025 11:11 โ ๐ 36 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So that's it then. The biggest fish kill in the history of the State, and we're just going to move on, with no idea who or what caused it?
It would be better to label it a river kill.
Some major polluter is today breathing a sign of relief, while the river Blackwater remains half dead.

RTร reporting this morning that the coal-burning units at Moneypoint will become emergency-only oil units starting today ๐
With Kilroot in Northern Ireland - along with all other coal plants in the UK - having shut down in 2023, it looks like the end of the coal era in these islands.
Why would you want a neat stripy boring lifeless lawn when you can have a shaggy, flower-filled paradise for pollinators? Maybe this short video will provide some inspiration! youtu.be/2SJFg3NbrFY

The Sand Martin are wasting no time this year. With the sunshine lots have paired up & are building nests. The contrast between this yr & last couldn't be greater. Sand Martin are hugely weather dependant. Cool & wet conditions make for low productivity. Let's hope this year is kind to them.
