I want to share something.

A student wrote this for a project after I told her I wouldn't be coming back in the fall.

I love being a teacher so damn much.

There's enough scary shit going down without the online fear mongers adding their two cents.

The last two weeks were awful. I said goodbye to some awesome students--I'll be at a new school in the fall so knowing I might not even see some of my day students for a very long time....it's hard.

One thing that has helped is how wonderful my kids have been. One wrote me a beautiful poem.

Moving back home this afternoon.

My heart is sad.

This is the first time I've legitimately missed having a Twitter account.

Pulled an all nighter to say goodbye to kids leaving at 3:30 in the morning.

This sucks.

This is freaking awesome!

Last night was prom.

I saw my amazing students dressed better than ever.

I wore a brand spanking new blue coat.

Two of my students literally lifted me up for a picture.

Three students hugged me.

I took as many pictures as I could.

I am going to miss this so damn much.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Just found out NIH has officially canceled our grant, a longitudinal study of Alzheimer's disease in Black Americans. I cannot even put into words how angry I am. The truth is they are canceling it because it has Black in the title. That's it, there is no other reason to do this.
