A night black and white photo of a coyote close to my camera in Hartsel, Colorado in 2021. It is laying down with its head to the right of the frame. Its thick, bushy tail is visible as is the black tip. The coyote's mouth is slightly open allowing us to see a few of its teeth. I have a soft spot for coyotes (and wolves) and hate how they are vilified for just being themselves (amazing and intelligent apex predators).

Happy #WorldWildlifeDay !

One of our local Coyotes taking a break at one of my camera setups.

Love the Browning cameras. @browningtrailcams.bsky.social

As we all know, I have a soft spot for both Coyotes and Wolves.

A small herd of bighorn sheep in an area where the foothills of Colorado meet the prairie. There is some snow in the background and the foreground plants and grasses are a tan to brown color as it was Winter. A rather handsome bighorn sheep is on the right hand side looking towards the camera. We see the South end of North heading bighorn sheep in the other members of the herd. They have white butts and a generally brown coloring overall.

A night photo of the moon during the lunar eclipse, there is a hint of red in the illuminated area.

Totality, lunar eclipse. The moon has a very red color to it.

Lunar eclipse 3 March 2026 approaching totality and totality at 4:33am this morning. Mainly clear sky, handheld shots using a tree stump for a bit of stability so not as sharp as they could be, still, fun to see it all unfold.

During periods of seasonal bird migration, β€œlive” migration maps show where nocturnal bird migration is occurring as detected by the U.S. weather surveillance radar network between local sunset to sunrise in near real-time. The maps show how many birds are present and in what direction they are moving.

Radars in mountainous areas (e.g. the Rockies) may be located on high mountain tops that restrict radar coverage, providing the appearance of no migration where migration may be occurring.

Please note that all graphics are relative to the Eastern time zone. Data are only presented for the contiguous U.S.

It’s spring migration! And BirdCast is live with 4 tools to follow the action.

"I definitely left the oven on, have to go home to check."

I know all the terrible things that have been happening and are still happening. I'm going to keep posting my videos etc in the hopes this is a place to come for a few moments of quiet and calm for everyone.

No, I don’t have it posted anywhere. I just love tinkering with all sorts of cameras and equipment. My main goal is keeping it all cheap and cheerful.

Setting up a test for another skycam for friends, this one is travel friendly so very small and self contained with solar cells - they'll use it when camping.

Skycam got a visitor lol, the setup is on an old stump so easy for the squirrel to jump up onto the setup.

A night, color, cropped photo of a meteor streaking across the sky. There are a few stars visible and trees in the bottom left corner, part of a house roof then a utility pole. The meteor was bright and appears to have some copper color at one end.

Night, color composite photo of the apparent movement of the stars around Polaris, the North Star. The stars make ever increasing concentric circles around Polaris, some star trails have different colors - that's due to the different temperatures of the stars. The meteor is on the left side about a third of the way up. Trees and houses are along the bottom edge of the frame.

Finally, clear sky and a meteor! 02:44am 28 February 2026.
Clouds expected the next few nights.
