First up: thank you to the outgoing board members. JACMP editor Michael Mills is retiring, thank you for founding the journal and many decades of service. Outgoing Board chair Todd Pawlicki got a yearbook, presented by incoming board chair @mmahesh.bsky.social. #MedPhys

Mein Kind und Freunde (Grundschulalter) identifizieren AI sofort. Schade dass so Vorurteile entstehen, die am Ende die sorgfΓ€ltigen und guten Studien zu ethischem Einsatz treffen.

Time for elementary school kids to spot AI generated stuff: 0.1 s. It’s becoming a joke amongst them.
What’s sad is that the serious studies leading to thoughtful implementation in medicine will suffer.

Black Rock on Maui. A dozen snorkelers watching sea turtles graze on algae. None of them spotted the 5 ft black tip reef shark cruising past just behind them. Beautiful animal. Thanks to my dad who taught me to make a 360 every few minutes while in the ocean I spotted this gorgeous animal.

College cats of Oxford Once upon a time, we featured an image of Magdalen's kitten, Ozymandias, in our newsletter. We figured it might be a gentle contrast to our regular diet of planning and local politics. The grey ball ...

If you like cute cats with stupidly brilliant names, photographed amongst very pretty Oxford architecture, this article from @oxfordclarion.bsky.social is for you:Β oxfordclarion.uk/college-cats...

Pedestrians in San Francisco routinely jaywalk right into the path of a Waymo because they trust that they car will stop for them. It’s quite an amazing, common change of human behavior to observe.

I had a cat like that. Then I became pregnant. She turned into Velcro kitty and had batting matches with my kid. One kicking from the inside, one batting from the outside. Never left baby’s side and always placed herself between baby and strangers. Spiky lovebug.

When I got the MMR info sheet from CDC, my jaw dropped. Apparently they don’t have a good science communicator. It was not easy to directly compare the risk & chance of side effects or long term toxicity of getting measles vs. the vaccine.
I have a PhD in physics and work in healthcare.

The only word I can think of about this VA decision is β€œbizarre”. Yes, male breast cancer is rare but about once a year on average in my career I’ve seen cases come through. It’s bad enough to have to deal with cancer, but why deny coverage to some veterans arbitrarily?
