The reason for the request for Europe to join the war is not because he thinks Europe can do what the United States cannot. He desperately wants to make Europe complicit in his boondoggle to give him political cover and the sheen of a leader as consequences come home.
a particularly maddening part of the past 14 months is how so many other countries have played along with even trump’s most reckless ideas. to see others, especially allies, finally telling him to cut the shit is actually comforting, in a way.
I hope the folks who manage the band Dire Straits find a way to capitalize on all this, at least.
