Also, someone saying "I want to commission you because I like your art" can just be a compliment, you don't HAVE to do a commission because someone says that. It's okay to say thanks, that's kind of you. And not have to do it! It's okay. I'm saying this with full love and positivity btw.

If you do not like drawing for people for free, you will not like drawing for people for money. Trust me. If it isn't an enthusiastic "I'll draw this for you", you're gonna hate it and deliver a product that is lacking. Been there done that, tried and true. You do not HAVE TO do commissions, ever.

Too often I have the "If you are hating this stop doing it" conversation with beginners who start doing them because they think it's a requirement to be a real, bonafide artist online. And you just do not have to. If it's not fun for you, if it is not serving you, you do not have to do it.
