These kinds of releases are always aimed at a "general" audience, which means that they have to aim at the lowest common denominator.
They'd rather pay (an admittedly minimal) extra cost for some extra DVDs than risk someone not buying it because they can't play BDs.
Because they can guarantee that everyone can play a DVD, more or less. While essentially every BD-playing device can also play DVDs, the format never truly managed to completely overtake DVD before digital became the primary means of watching stuff.
The listing literally says "This is the only way to get Seasons 7-8". I appreciate the honesty, but...

Happy 80th Birthday to voice actor legend, Frank Welker! He voiced Furrball, Calamity Coyote, Lil’ Beeper, and Gogo Dodo on Tiny Toon Adventures. On Animaniacs, he‘s Runt and Ralph T. Guard. He has over 1000 credits from Scooby and Fred in Scooby-Doo!, Garfield, and Curious George. What a legend.
Since the same eBay seller was also offering it, I decided to also grab Devil May Cry 3's PC port from around the same time as RE4's. I've heard this is similarly infamous, but I don't have any real experience with DMC myself.
RE4 is on 1 DVD... but DMC3 is on FIVE CDs!!!
Since I now have this "Retro XP" Shuttle PC up & running (still moving installers over, at the moment), I decided to do something dumb & silly... I went & bought the infamous 2007 PC port of Resident Evil 4.
This is, as @stopskeletons.bsky.social would say, "that good garbo". Keyboard-only RE4!

However, I am disappointed that the show didn't go with what I felt should have been an obvious early gag: Have Zoro somehow escape G-8 all by himself via his notorious lack of direction, only for him to turn back & re-enter once he realized that none of the other Straw Hats were with him.
Finally started watching One Piece's G-8 Arc for Diagnosis: Filler, and even in just the first three episodes I can see why it's such a well-regarded filler arc. The usage of a Marine base allows for aspects of the Marines that you'd normally never see be given some focus in non-action ways.

Reading/watching Kinnikuman was a transformative experience because just how much modern Japanese media (not just anime) draws from it is staggering once you have. The same is true of the original Kamen Rider and/or Gundam.
I feel like there’s been an increase in people reading manga/watching anime with their eyes closed. Theres such a focus on aura farming moments, power scaling, and cool visuals that stuff like plot, character, and themes are completely glossed over.
I don't think most western audiences are fully aware of just how much Dragon Quest has shaped Japanese fantasy settings. Virtually every isekai has Dragon Quest as its foundation for plot tropes, monsters, character archetypes, etc. Direct references abound.
