If the climate crisis is the wildfire threatening to devour us, #agenticAI is the fog that approaches from the other direction. We have no idea what that fog brings (may quench the fire or turn us into puppets or ...). So better keep an eye on it.

Downstream of the alpine #glaciers you find some of the most impressive braided river sections. I wonder what will happen to them in 50 years when the glaciers have melted. Most likely some sort of (boring) floodplain forest.

Not much left of the #glaciers in #Ecriens, but when walking on the moraine you get an idea of the former size.

Yesterday, we observed 42 butterfly species, nice ones like Parnassius apollo and Limenitis reducta, but also rarities like Hipparchia geneva and Muschampia lavatherae.

Since 15 years we search for Eryngium alpinum. Today we found a few.

A few more butterflies and mothes from Ecriens: Polyommatus daphnis, Zygaena hylaris, Melitaea phoebe.

Poor picture but the proof that we have seen Coenonympha oedippus, one of the rarest European butterflies. In the Rhone floodplain north of Lac du Burget.

Some nice things on the way: Ophrys fuciflora elatior (one of three locations in Germany).

Over the last 15 years, we have visited almost all national parks in the Alps. This year Ecriens (France) as the final one. Some plant and insect pictures ahead.
