You can feel the love for every piece of furniture and pattern of wallpaper, may we all be so comfortable in our tastes as this!

We should be angry with this because the Bank of England is too cowardly to blend the animals with the historical figures and make Churchill a hedgehog, why is nobody making this a priority?

Well obviously they're wrong

Woe betide you if you suggest cleanser, moisturiser and SPF in a subreddit that advocates for a 10 step routine or 8 step etc.

Skincare is a great one, multiple definitive ways to care for your skin and all the underlying prejudice and assumptions for why they think theirs is the best

That's interesting! I don't know of any but would be interested as well.

The way in which each subreddit becomes its own hivemind and forces out dissent is fascinating, as is how the different subreddits view the hivemind of the others

Raising men to feel less entitled to women's bodies, time and attention is the obvious solution, until then a level of gendered violence and manipulation is inevitable, unfortunately.

Think it's helpful to add that men with these attitudes often hide them until they've reached a level of commitment it's hard to walk away from. Women often don't want to put up with it but if it isn't revealed until after they've gotten married or had a child, it can feel really hard to leave

Absolutely! Feral cats live in colonies not solitarily, they raise their kittens together, that's why pet cats that have kittens will let humans handle their kittens because they see us as co-parents

I love my 40L Osprey Fairview, if you want something that big. It's so comfortable to carry because all the straps adjust in multiple directions so you can really get it right on your hips and shoulders and it opens up in a really convenient way

Oh, I see that makes more sense but also, are there any calendar programmes that wouldn't have the functionality to do that automatically? I'm only familiar with google but they do. I think my original point that needing the AI agent is a skill issue still stands!

But you don't need to collate anything across the calendars, that's what he's saying, that AI brings all his commitments together, not that it checks people's availability

Why would anyone have so many calendars?! What are they for? How can you have more than 1 work and 1 personal? How can anyone be so deliberately and pointlessly inefficient that an AI agent needs to look at multiple calendars for them?

Oh! I wondered what had happened when she posted something awful, seemed to come out of nowhere but I must have just not been looking closely enough

I'd like to think that the power of her prose and obvious truth of her work would lead to an audience in any generation, she got her start in a time when women weren't exactly at the centre of sc-fi and of course, she didn't identify as a feminist at the beginning of her career

Even better that whenever people share their hobbies and interests someone always replies asking why they aren't focusing on the more important thing, 'fighting plutocratic fascism'...

The art is a by-product, the purpose of the creative process is how it changes you!

I once loathed a book so much I pulled out all the pages, cut them into squares and used them for origami, it was exceedingly cathartic

Unlike Grenade by Bruno Mars, in which he offers to do things that never need doing

There was a tweet which said that being a billionaire is functionally a cognitive impairment and I think about it a lot

Not just boarding schools, private day schools are just as bad here. Interestingly, boarding is much less popular here now, so lots of the boarders come from China and Russia.

In the UK it's more that they attended such pricey schools, nobody ever questioned how those schools operated and they hugely encourage bullying. I wonder if this seeped into other countries' elite education as well? (Britain: never a good example but always a terrible warning!)

Won't listen to the podcast due to him being so vacuous but the comments on it are AMAZING, lots of people very happy that a) she hasn't forgiven him and b) he looks pathetic about it

I completely agree with all of this but also, not everyone is playing DnD to be challenged, sometimes escapism is silly and fun, which is fine too! DnD can be incredibly meaningful and it can be totally ridiculous and it can be both at the same time

I'm a potter and quite proud to call myself a maker, for me it acknowledges that pottery hasn't traditionally been thought of as 'high art' and embraces both the artistic and mass produced history of the craft. Using artist sounds a bit like I want to separate myself from the history of my craft

I agree with this, as a potter I'm quite proud to call myself a maker with all the history that entails. For me it's an explicit acknowledgement that the history of my creative activity is not 'high art' and a choice to embrace that

The absolute worst are the intros to classic sci-fi that feel the need to tell you the book defies genre and is literary actually. As if I, someone who is choosing to read sci-fi need to have the genre denigrated before I can enjoy the book!

You don't look terrible, you look like you're having fun - literally the most attractive thing a person can do!
