That could be true. And in the case of a baker you know, memories may have improved an average item, lifted it up. My mother cooking hearkened back to a time when she was trying hard to be a model mom. Turns out it was performance. She was a C-PTSD survivor who went untreated for many years.

I think memories of the bakers influences the taste. Both of you mentioned cakes made by your mothers. My mother was not a great baker but she did make a mean sweet potato pie.

If we wanna change it, we can't keep avoiding it. Avoidance won't change anything-- about us or outside of us-- for the better.

We don't have to love engaging w/ it or engage w/ it "perfectly." But we can't ignore it & expect it to change in ways we choose or prefer. If only.

It would help to have a National Day of Action re: SNAP - perhaps on November 1. It would take rapid response but houses of worship could take the lead in mobilizing their members. Educate everyone about the cuts, encourage local donations, pressure Congress, etc...
