Nearly half of L.A. County’s pavement may be unnecessary, new map finds Researchers have released the first parcel-level analysis to map all paved surfaces across L.A. County. In particular, large parking lots are ripe for change, they say.

A new report, DepaveLA, finds that 44% of Los Angeles County’s 312k acres of pavement may not be essential for roads, sidewalks and parking, and could be converted to greener cooler cover and habitat.

An okay cover, does its job. The neon certainly pops, even if nothing inside feels particularly neon. Joe Kessler as a cover designer might be on his way to a similar love-him-or-hate-him reputation to the one Peter Mendelsund has within literary spaces

The x-ray panel is one of the best Shaw-isms. "Policing my swallow" is so great (and one of many memorable lines throughout the book). Kay was my favourite character, would've liked to see more of him towards the end

Love the way Shaw draws the projected images on the figures here. The parts with Katinsky definitely felt inspired by Tár in some respects

Blurry:
Starting to think Dash Shaw is our best working graphic novelist (if partially by virtue of quantity). This was pretty excellent. Lovely naturalistic Huizenga-esque musings & a neat nesting-doll structure. His 2nd best for me (doubt he'll ever top New School)

Yeah, this one is just 120 pages, so fairly on the lean end compared to BLURRY and DISCIPLINE. Immediately one of my most anticipated books of the year
