once again, this is because even though the same words are used at both ends of that sentence, they mean completely different things.

"[sex abuser/trafficker] is elected dictator by people who worship him as their savior against [their sexual property being corrupted by the knowledge of autonomy]"

def would need some kind of alternative plan to afford living there again, if not moving there with a little pack of trusted queers.
feeling backed into a corner here.
a bit soothing to dream of possible alternatives.

again, who knows what will happen, but yeah. seems pretty apparent we’ve got to get out of the midwest. it would feel cool if we got to bring some lovely people back out with us.

who knows what will happen but we all know we like each other, we all know we are economically marginalized, all know we want to get tf out of the midwest soon, and know that our best shot at doing so may be as a group

Realizing that my mental wellbeing and continued ability to live my life is dependent on me being able to believe this question can facilitate passage into interesting and unique ways of being, rather than just opening out into a lonely void, or ending in a solid brick wall.

I am working very hard to let β€œwhat if my body is like this for life?” be a generative question rather than the thought terminating one it’s been for me up until now.

One of the most disheartening things about trans advocacy is how little the people who claim to be on our side actually listen to us.

"trans-identifying", "biological sex", and a variety of other GC dogwhistles have become common parlance because people listen to our enemies, but not us.

State fascists keep victims scared and under-resourced and easier for intimate fascists to control. Intimate fascists regularly hand victims over to (or make them more visible to) the death machinery of State fascists. State fascists provide totally legal routes to dispose of victims.

A victory for authoritarianism at any level strengthens it at *every* level. This is why the fight against it must be on all fronts, from structural violence to interpersonal violence, and treated with equal militancy. Fascists of the home and of the state are collaborators (and share membership!)

The People Being Arrested By ICE That No One’s Talking About The Trump administration’s deportation machine is detaining immigrant women at record numbers β€” and they've become invisible targets.

Harrowing report about an undocumented mother of two (including a nursing 3-month-old) who called the police on her boyfriend for assaulting her, only for her to end up detained in ICE custody with 30 other women in a men's facility notorious for sexual abuse and medical neglect.

Security Culture
Because what they don’t know can hurt them.

Security culture is a set of shared practices that minimize risk. Even in an increasingly dangerous time, we can still organize and actβ€”we just have to be prudent.

Share sensitive information on a need-to-know basis. If someone does not need to know something, they should never hear anything about it. Don’t speak about anyone’s participation in high-risk activities. Don’t brag, gossip, or speculate. The more people know something that can put someone at risk, the greater the chance that it will reach the wrong ears. That goes for the identity of a person responsible for an action, the legal status of a member of your community, the location of a private meeting, or a plan for future activity. Sharing such information with people who do not need it puts them in the position of being able to endanger others with a single error.

Identify your goals and the threat models you are concerned about so you can pick the security measures that meet your needs. When making a plan, start by agreeing on the appropriate security practices so everyone is on the same page. At the beginning, err on the side of caution: it’s easier to shift from a higher level of security to a lower level than vice versa.

Trust your gut. Don’t let anyone talk you into doing something you don’t feel good about. If you take a risk and something goes wrong, you’ll feel better knowing that you trusted your intuition and took every reasonable precaution.

Don’t leave a trail. Credit cards, cell phones, and other electronics create a record of your purchases, movements, and contacts. Use Signal for messaging. Lock your phone and computer with a long alphanumeric passcode. Don’t take them to demonstrations, through border crossings, or into other high-risk situations.

Build confidence. Foster a community of people with longstanding friendships and experience acting together. Learn and abide by the security expectations of each person you inter…

Security Culture: A poster

This poster introduces the basics of security cultureβ€”a set of shared practices designed to minimize risk for everyone. Please distribute them at demonstrations and post them in community spaces.

β€œIf we want our direct action movement to continue, it is imperative we start tightening our security and taking ourselves more seriously. Now is the time to adopt a security culture. Good security is certainly the strongest defense we have.”

Hey everyone! Just want you to try to remember we are living through a counterrevolution! Specifically, that 2011-2020 saw an uprising and an upswell of organizing, resistance, and working class power that matched that of the 60s, in the US yes but around the globe.

It's gentrification of whisper networks, removing people's agency and direct personal investment in practising and control over necessary safety protocols and precautions. Locking these networks beyond a techbro wall, out of reach of anyone who understands outcomes like this are inevitable.

29.07.2025 15:27 β€” πŸ‘ 17    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I fundamentally don't believe it is possible for a platform predicated on basically monetising exploitation and precarity of its users to actually care about the users' safety enough to invest in all the best practices necessary to make itself safe.

29.07.2025 15:27 β€” πŸ‘ 17    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This app, its data collection practices, and its data breaches will facilitate the abuse and murder of many women. Further, it will make countless others even more hesitant to engage in the whisper networks (online and off) that *do* protect gender marginalized people from violent men.

29.07.2025 15:17 β€” πŸ‘ 22    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Protecting women from violent men means thinking about and planning ahead of time re: what violent men are likely to do when they come across a barrier to their control over/access to women. Which is to try circumvent it by any means at their disposal.

29.07.2025 15:12 β€” πŸ‘ 29    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If a service or space that purports to help protect women against violent men does not take *extreme* measures to protect the identities of women who engage it, it will inevitably be used by men as another avenue of control and misogynistic violence. This is so horrendous.

I think it's important to note the audience for this isn't really cisgender LGB people (who polling tells us overwhelmingly favor trans rights) but is meant to serve as a permission structure for a broader audience to abandon trans rights while still claiming they're "liberal"
