Another thing that may be factoring into markets today that has nothing to do with Trump: AI jitters have abounded this year and tech and software have not done great. Nasdaq is the big winner today so it also could just be some mean reversion in the index that drives the market.

And oil started pulling back after the G7 said they may tap their reserve. Trump is not the only reason why markets are up. Markets are unhinged right now, but it's pretty naive to think they're just hanging on Trump's every word when they rode the TACO trade to all time highs last year.

Not trying to put anybody on blast here since finance is opaque, but if you're only looking at US markets and not oil, which is a global market, you just won't see the reason why markets are up.

Oil markets may be reacting positively to Trump's bullshit, but US markets are just reacting to oil.

Entire yield curve fell alongside the fall in oil too. None of this is rational but all of this happening together makes 100% sense. Oil and bonds are a pressure valve on stocks that just got slowly released today.

I know it's maddening to see stonks finish pretty green on such an insane day like this, but oil is now under $90. That's a mechanical move for the nasdaq to go from -2% at $110 oil to +1.2% at $89.

Oil under $100 now. Honestly would not be shocked if SPX finishes green today at this rate. 3 of the mag 7 are up and Microsoft is basically flat. Market clearly betting on short-term oil reserves carrying it until the inevitable TACO.

Tbh the market reaction today is not that bad. Futures were down over 2% last night and the Dow is down 1.5% now because oil pulled back to around $100. If anything this kind of measured reaction to bad news could embolden Trump.

Tbh no tax on tips is a much more well thought out policy than this birdbrained nonsense that blows up the social contract among Americans to fund our government.

Cool how good policy isn't a thing anymore and politicians just pitch stupid bullshit that won't work but sounds like it could to low information voters who don't vote on policy anyway.

In other words, this is the Democratic Party version of no tax on tips.
